Arnaba Hanging Valley
A circular route through the Arnaba hanging valley, taking in oak and beech forests, panoramic views and the surroundings of Gastiáin.
The circular route starts at the Gastiáin wash house. We leave the village heading north and take the track that starts opposite the main entrance to Gastiáin, passing a farm. We begin a steep climb towards the summit. As we climb, we are treated to beautiful views of the Lana Valley, the rock formations of the Arnaba hanging valley and the oak forests in the lower reaches, as well as beech woods in the upper reaches.
After reaching the top and taking in the panoramic view from above, we descend through a beech wood, heading north at first, until we come to a well-marked track. We then head south-east along this track until we reach the Narcué gate. We descend along this path until we reach the village of Narcué. After passing through it, we continue for almost a kilometre along the road before taking a farm track that branches off to the right, which will take us back to Gastiáin. During this final stretch of the route, we have the opportunity to visit the chapel of San Miguel.
