Piquillo from Lodosa
A circular route between the River Ebro and the piquillo pepper fields of Lodosa, following the GR-99 and taking in the monumental poplars.
We start the walk at the municipal swimming pools in Lodosa. We head towards the River Ebro and the Ebro Nature Trail (GR-99). We walk along the banks of the Ebro towards the east and, before reaching the bridge over the NA-6220 road, we come to the Álamos de Lodosa nature reserve, comprising nineteen ancient, large poplar trees that are rightly protected as a natural heritage site.
We then cross the bridge and turn right onto a track that runs parallel to the river, heading towards Alcanadre. Further on, we pass the chapel of San Emeterio and San Celedonio until we reach the start of the Lodosa canal. At this point, we change direction to walk for about 150 m alongside the canal and then return via a track through the orchards until we come back to this chapel. Finally, we take the same path we have already followed but in the opposite direction to return to the Lodosa pools.
