Carlism
A circular route between Lácar and Lorca, taking in two Carlist fortifications, ravines and the landscapes of the Cañada Real Tauste-Andía.
The circular route starts at Lácar square. We head towards Lorca, going over the A-12 and crossing the NA-1110 road before reaching the town. After passing through it, we head south towards the Mauriáin ravine and climb gradually until we come to the Cañada Real de Tauste-Andía. We then follow part of this cattle track until we reach a point where we turn off to visit the Princess of Asturias stronghold: one of the four fortifications built by the liberals on Mount Esquinza to maintain their position against the Carlists.
We then descend through the Prado ravine to a junction where the path turns uphill, bringing us back to the Cañada Real. We then descend towards the Mauriáin cross. In this area, on the border between Lorca and Villatuerta, stood the Cáceres redoubt, another of the fortifications built by the liberals. From this point, we take the now-defunct SL-NA 184 trail towards the village of Lácar. We cross the Camino de Santiago, the NA-1110 road and the A-12, this time passing underneath them, and head north along a track until we reach the starting point of the route.
