Cyclable of Améscoa

A circular cycle route through Las Améscoas, taking in villages, beech forests and the Urbasa-Andía Natural Park.

The circular cycle route starts from the car park at Zudaire, in Améscoa Baja, although it can also be started from other villages. We head south towards Baríndano. We then turn west, along the northern slope of the Sierra de Lokiz, towards San Martín. From there, we cycle through farmland towards Ecala and Eulate, entering Améscoa Alta. There, we cross to the southern slope of Urbasa and the Monte de Limitaciones de Las Améscoas to head towards Aranarache. We make our way to the upper part of the village to climb the concrete track, reaching a rocky pass at the top. After passing through the metal gate, we turn left onto the track through beech woods, entering the Monte de Limitaciones. Later, at the junction with the tarmac track, there is a fork where we can turn left to follow a 7 km circular route through beech woods and approach the monumental beech tree of Haya de Limitaciones. Alternatively, by taking the right-hand fork, we head through wooded areas and open ground to the Ubaba Viewpoint. We circle this rocky cirque, home to the source of the Urederra, and continue along the track until we reach the crossroads that allows us to descend to Artaza. From here, we head towards Gollano and Baquedano, and following the course of the River Urederra, we arrive back at Zudaire.
