Saint Columba
A circular route combining heritage and nature, taking in the monumental three-legged holm oak, the chapel of Santa Coloma and views of Mendaza.
We start the circular route from the local surgery in Mendaza and head towards the upper part of the village. After passing the church, we take the path that continues uphill. After a short climb, we come to a junction with three options. The first, and closest, takes us to admire the natural monument of the Encina de Tres Patas. The second, continuing along the path, leads us to the panoramic hilltop of Santa Coloma, crowned by the chapel of the same name, from where we can gaze out over the La Berrueza valley.
And taking the third option, we continue skirting the Santa Coloma hilltop, first along a wide path that climbs gently and then, along a track, we change direction as we descend. Finally, we return along the path to the village of Mendaza.
