Borgia
A circular cycle tour through Viana, taking in vineyards, the Ebro River and the Barranca Salada, the site of César Borgia’s death.
We begin the circular route on gravel bikes from the Viana sports complex. We set off along the cycle path that runs parallel to the NA-1110 road. We then turn onto the NA-6320 heading south, before turning off onto a track on the left just before reaching the roundabout.
We follow this track south-eastwards through magnificent vineyards until we reach Barranca Salada, the site of the battle in which Cesare Borgia was killed in March 1507. We then cross the NA-134 road and join the Ebro Trail (GR-99). We follow it upstream for about 12 km until we reach the industrial estate, where we cross the NA-134 road again, heading for the Laguna de las Cañas Nature Reserve. We skirt the lagoon and head north-east to return to Viana via a track.
