The Water Trail in the Guesalaz Valley
A circular cycle route through the villages and landscapes of the Guesálaz Valley, taking in traditional washing places, cisterns and the Alloz water source.
We start the circular route at the Guezálaz sports centre in Muez and head towards the village of Esténoz. Walking alongside the reservoir, we pass close to the village of Muzqui and then, after a long stretch, we reach Irurre, where we come across a cistern. In this village, we change direction and head north along paths to arrive at the village of Garisoain. We continue in the same direction and, after leaving the village centre, pass by the old wash house.
We carry on along the path until we come across the village of Muzqui and its small wash house once more. We continue towards Arzoz, but just before reaching it, a short detour takes us to visit its wash house. Later, after a few more kilometres northwards, we reach the village of Viguria, home to the Palace of the Marquis of Montehermoso. Finally, we head towards Muez and, after crossing the River Salado, we make our way back to the starting point.
