Artavia Forest
A circular route between the River Urederra and the forests of Artavia, taking in the foothills of Lokiz and the natural surroundings of Galdeano.
Starting the circular route from the car park at the Artavia bathing area, we head upstream, running parallel to the course of the River Urederra. After just over half a kilometre, we leave the valley floor behind and head towards the heights of the Sierra de Lokiz. A steady climb through the dense forests of Artavia brings us closer to the steep eastern slopes of Lokiz, offering us the chance to reach the highest point of this mountain range.
However, the route turns, taking us in the opposite direction, and we begin to descend towards the village of Galdeano. After passing through it, we walk along the foothills of Lokiz and arrive back at the village of Artavia.
